Rent-A-Dog Business?
Apr 17
An American company, Flexpetz, started quite a bizarre, but yet interesting service: to “rent” a dog for few hours per day or few days per week. The owners of this company declare that it’s a unique concept for dog lovers who are unable to own a full-time doggy pal and miss spending time with a canine friend.
The concept of Flexpetz originated with a group of dogs lovers who sadly accepted that they could not provide a dog with the full-time care and attention that goes along with responsible dog ownership.
The reasons they could not own a dog included: restrictive pet ownership rules where they lived, regular business travel involving days away from home, a busy family schedule.
Company provides its members with local access to a variety of dogs, all of whom are rescued or re-homed, lovable and fully trained. Clients can spend from just a few hours to a number of days with each of offered dogs which are available in varied breed sizes to ensure compatibility with clients’ individual lifestyles and unique circumstances. Local drop-off and collection to their home or office is available in some locations.
To become a member of this organization you should start by signing up via their web page. Then you will be contacted by a Flexpetz representative to arrange a meeting with trainer and the dog of your choice. At this first meeting, you will undergo a leisurely introduction that will familiarize you with the company’s concept, dogs, and standard canine commands.
After this first step you can use their online reservation system to plan your “doggy time”. Choose a location to view the dogs available on your chosen date(s) and complete the reservation. You can take out the same dog time after time, or choose to meet different doggy friends on different days. Membership is limited, and each dog generally spends time with a small group of people. Monthly membership costs USD 39.95 plus a daily fee.
The service aims to expand to New York, San Francisco and Boston soon, followed by Washington, DC and London. One to set up locally?
