This may even sound like a helpful service for women too! You could even offer to take their dry-cleaning and return it for them for a small price if you are doing their regular laundry.
There are so many different ways that you could choose to offer your service. At $10 a load you would need to require them to drop off the clothes and pick them up. You might try offering different options of services. One offer might be an offer to pick up their laundry and deliver it for an added fee of say $5 per 1-5 loads etc. An Executive option could require you own a key to their residence and pick up laundry regularly, and return it and put it away for them.
The initial investment in this business would be in owning your own facilities to do laundry at any time of the day. If you have these then your next investment would be in advertising your service to those that would be interested. Posting a small advertisement in laundry areas of apartment buildings could be a good start, then post them in public laundry facilities also.
Make sure you always know what you are laundering. Read the needed tags to make sure that you don’t ruin any clothing that you are laundering. Look for spots that may need added attention and never mix loads with other customers. You want the clothes to end up with the right customers. If you need to, tag the items with a permanent marker in an inconspicuous place.
If you are going to iron certain items you may want to add a small fee for this, depending on how much time it takes you to iron them. For men it is usually dress shirts, since you will need to use more energy to accomplish this you may want to charge a little more per piece. You will always want to take the cost of utilities into account when you decide to make this a profitable business. They can surprise you, so try to discern what the added cost is for utilities when deciding what to charge your customers. You want to make money for your labor too.
