By the time he was in college, Frank Warren says he’d already failed at more businesses than most people have attempted. But by the time he started the blog-based art project PostSecret he had also already succeeded, something he says was one of the keys to his blog’s success. read all »

Because few homeowners or tenants have the time, means or energy to do it themselves, there is always a need for someone with a pickup truck to transport things found or accumulated around the house and yard. Examples are trash from private homes and businesses (most collection services will not pick up certain types of refuse), carting off things that have been cleaned out of the garage or attic, delivery of large items, picking up tree and shrub trimmings, etc. all that is needed is a truck and a strong back. read all »

1. Rent Out A Room
Of course if your earnings are over the taxable limit, you could be taxed on rent as an income. But hey, if your rent was over the taxable income, you probably wouldn’t have the need to make extra money in the first place. Make sure that the room you’re renting is comfortable, secure and well decorated.
Your home should also be conducive to accommodate someone comfortably, remember that what you’re offering is not just a room but a home to someone. Renting a room in your house is an easy way to making money, and if you pick the right person, (someone who works long hours, or travels a lot) you may hardly ever see them. read all »

I live in San Diego, California in an area where there is a College nearby. Within five blocks of my home you can choose from any type of cuisine you could possibly desire. The College students and people who work in surrounding small businesses have to go way out of their way because there are not many places that are easily accessible during lunch hour (because of long lines and parking problems). read all »

Business Idea: YouTube Theater
Description: A place where you can watch all of your favorite videos in a theater setting with popcorn and all that good stuff
Start-Up Cost: $25k - $75k
Potential Income: $500k+ per year
YouTube epitomizes the American dream of a quick business start-up with instant success. It falls into the same category of the great “garage” start-ups as Microsoft, Google and eBay have so masterfully done. It’s huge success comes from the millions of people who use YouTube to share their favorite videos with friends and family online.
There is only one little thing that I think YouTube lacks…an off-line community. There isn’t a gathering spot where large groups of friends can come together to one central location to view and enjoy their favorite videos.
So, why not capture the exponential crowd online and reap the wonderful rewards of launching a YouTube video theater in your very own town? Oh, but it’s so much more than a theater too… Here’s how it works: read all »

Here’s Shoemoney’s number one on his list of “Top 10 Worst Ideas To Make Money.” I think this idea actually has some legs and could still work with a different spin. What do you think? Anyway, here it is:
I want to purchase a Gas Station and Give away Free Gas
The catch is like the gas would come out really slow and also you would be limited as to how much you could get per week. (Like max 50 gallons a week).
How do I make money ? EASY - I would setup paintball guns around the gas station with webcams that would let people from the internet take shots at the people filling up there cars with gas. read all »

I happened to be walking with my kids earlier this summer when we bumped into one of my son’s school mates. We stopped to chat for a bit in their back yard and I noticed that there were several lush spots of green lawn when most other yards in the neighborhood were patchy and brown from a recent dry spell.
The neighbor noted that they had moved their trampoline around periodically when they noticed how well the grass fared underneath. read all »

Here is a really great idea for someone who wants to start their own business, start a sidewalk and driveway edging business. An office is not always a necessity for professionals. Sometimes professionals do not keep one because they cannot afford one or they have no need of an office for a full day. However, there are professionals that wish to have an office for a short time daily, perhaps an hour or so. Therefore, if you have some space available to rent for a few hours a day, then this could be indeed a lucrative business for you. read all »

Eric Nakagawa, a software developer in Hawaii, posted a single photo of a fat, smiling cat he found on the Internet, with the caption, “I can has cheezburger?” in January, 2007, at a web site he created. It was supposed to be a joke.
Soon after he posted a few more images in the same vein: cute cats with funny captions written in a silly, invented hybrid of Internet shorthand and baby-talk.
Then he turned the site into a blog, so that visitors could comment on the postings. What happened after that would have been hard for anyone to predict.
“We just thought, O.K., they’re funny,”Nakagawa says. “Suddenly we started getting hits. I was like, where are these coming from?” read all »
